Add an Image to your File Manager in Kodi

Hello BFKer’s Hope your all doing well.

Today i am bringing you another Skinning Blog on how to add an image to your File Manager Profile. I was asked to do this from a few followers of mine so here we have it. If anyone who/Did follow @Fanriffic on Twitter you will have know that this was quite a trade mark for his theme builds and quite effective aswell. so for those who have asked on how to add an image in this section of the file manager then here it is.

OK lets start as you all know Every blog i do concerning skinning are done on a PC but the same result can be achieved on an Android device

For this Blog we need.

Texture tool.

Notepad++

Kodi 16.1/17/17.1/17.2/17.3.

And in my case Photoshop.

First we need to put a image in our .xbt file and name it what you wish.

To open and re-pack your texture.xbt file you can follow ANY of these guides HERE

Ok lets get going, First of all we need to open our filemanager.xml in Notepad++ which is contained in our build in my case it is as always Aeon Nox. and all .xml files for your build will be found in the 1080i folder.

When we open that we will get a xml script file. When we open that in Notepad++ there will be two changes we need to make,..The Left and the Right.

The top change of the .xml will be the Left.

So from the <contol> to the </control> these are the lines you need to copy and paste.Lines 17 to 23

Then paste them from line 24.

As from the following screen shots you will notice i have entered an extra “tag” <left>number</left>

You will need to add this to move the image left to right.

In the line 29 in side the >< put the name of your .png file you put into your texture.xbt file in my case as you can see above it is called >left2.png<

The <left>????</left> ………. will move your image LEFT and RIGHT.

The <top>????</top> ………. will move your image UP and DOWN .

The <width> ????</width> ……… will make your image FAT or THIN .

The <height> ????</height> ………will make your image LONG or SHORT .

OK so now we have the left hand side of the file Manager sorted out its the same principle for the right hand side and you will find that from lines 141.

And as you can see the name of my image is right.png.

Thats it easy as A,B,C.

DONT forget every time you make changes in Notepad++ you need to save the changes.and always re-boot Kodi

Then once you have done all of the above you should end up with something like this.

The left side.

And both sides.

So go and have a go and have fun.
