Create Your Own Build in Kodi 17 Part 5

OK guys this is the final blog in this mini series on how to create your own build in Kodi 17. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and if there’s more you’d like to know then please get in touch with us at Bestforkodi.com.

Today we’re going to take look at backgrounds.

I have to say this is one subject that I get the most questions about, so we know you love to customise your builds in this way.

The first thing you need to do is find yourself a collection of high quality images that you wish to use.

Download the images and wrap them up in a folder of their own. I will call my folder Images and stick it on my desktop.

Right now the location of this folder is not important, just get your images into it.

When you have done this, its time to move the folder to a location where it will stay attached to the build should you decide to move it between devices.

If you’ve got this far, I will assume you are familiar with file management. I will use the File Manager HD App on my T8 box but there are many different ways depending on what device you are using. You can always refer back to the original build series by clicking here if you need to re-fresh on using File Manager HD.

So, copy the folder with your images in it and paste it into this location.

Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons/skin.xonfluence/backgrounds

For locations on other devices click here

This will make navigating to your images a piece of cake!

So, here we go again.

System and Skin Settings then select Backgrounds.

Let’s start with the option of Global background and single image.

When you click this you should be able to see your new folder.

Go ahead and chose the image you want to use.

It’s as easy as that. This image will now remain in place as a global background for all pages and Main menu items.

If you select Multi Image the background will scroll between all the images in your folder. In order to do this you only need to select the folder containing the images than click OK. You do not need to select individual images.

So, now let’s see how you we can assign images to each of the main menu items

System, skin settings and general

Click where it says, Enable single global background to disable this option.

Now when you go back to Backgrounds you will set at the top the Main Menu Items that you can now scroll between and set up a background for each.

Have a go and see what it looks like

Nice!

OK, a couple more things back in that General menu.

You can turn off the clock display if for some reason you don’t want it.

You can also have a little play with the Main foray and OSD colours right here. That way you can close your feel.

Go into Home screen options and you can move the position of there main menu bar and change the way it scrolls.

If you want to remove the kodi icon on the top left of the screen, this is where you can do that as well

Don’t be afraid to have a dabble and see what you can do.

Don’t forget, we really want to see just what you can do with your own builds.
