Hello again, I am back with another Kodi Tutorial this Time its about Time. This tutorial will cover Adding Spice to the Time Section in Kodi.
We are going to mess about with the clock and add a little spice to it (ie give it a little Border).
Along with Damo, I have been blogging these new Kodi skinning tutorials for a week or so with more to come. If you have missed any of the previous ones you can view them below.

Adding Spice to the Time Section in Kodi.
Ok, lets go peeps, where did we get to? we got as far as
So now we are going to have a play with the Time/Date section at the moment it looks like this.
Everything I am doing is all about personal preference, so its all about choice.
What I will do is move the time to the center of the menu bar and put some border around it.
If you have followed from the beginning you will know what tools we need. So lets go and open the Home.xml in Notepad++
First we will deal the the Time/Date.
You will find it on line 139ish
The 2 tags as we should be familiar with now are <width> and <height> which is normal and we have to change them.
Mine will look like this.
You will notice in that code you can actually Change the Color/Shadow etc But i will cover that later in a different .xml file.
Don’t forget to SAVE in Notepad++ and USE your Task Manager to CLOSE Kodi if it was open.
So what i am left with is this.
So the Time/Date is in the center of the screen which is what i was looking for.
Now i want to do away with the Grey bar it sits in so for that we need this bit of the Home.xml.
So after changing the submenu_bar.png tag to what your .png is called in my case it is highlight.png
And the changing the values till your satisfied. These are my changes.
You will notice that i added a <top> and a <left> tag this just gives you more manipulation and control of what you are trying to achieve.
And here is the end result.
But if you look real close to the right you will notice that we still have the submenu_end.png on the screen?
As i have mentioned in my Sub Menu Tutorial you can tackle this in 2 ways.
1 . You can delete the submenu_end.png so you end up with
That will remove it from your Build.
2 . Or you can replace it with another .png which i chose to do with these lines and a wookie3d.png. and a <top> tag added.
This is the final string.
TIP – Have you noticed in Line 29 it has <top>-85</top>
That is because if you had a Value of lets say “100” that would be Low if you were to drop the “100” to “50” that would raise the .png on the screen.
So if the tag reads <top>0</top> you might think that you have reached your limit on lifting the .png
BUT NO by putting a – in front of the Value it will lift it up even more.
So this is the End result of our Time and Date Tutorial.
So there you have it.
Hope you have enjoyed this Tutorial and keep following for the rest of the Kodi Skinning tutorials to do a Complete Build..
Have fun playing about.
As i have said many times its all Trial and Error.
