Here we are going to show you how to keep all them changes on your Kodi once you have done an Update. This How to save your Kodi Screen Set up should make your life easier.
If you make changes to your Kodi on screen AND then you run the Wookie or another build, All of those changes will be lost.
This Blog will show you how you can save all them changes to an External storage card so that you can re-install after an update.
For this Blog i will be making a back up from my SPMC BUILD.
The tools i will be using will be File Manager HD and a SD Card, Thats it thats all you need.
You will be able to use an USB Stick but the path will change from “sdcard1 to sda1“.
Also if you are using a different Kodi/XBMC then the path that you follow will be exactly that.
So again for this purpose mine will be SPMC.
And “ANY” File manager should do the job.
I also want to say a BIG THANK YOU to CLUMMO for the information your about to read.
Ok lets get going, How to save your Kodi Screen Set up.
Make sure you have your SD Card in your box.
Open your File Manager.
As you can see BLUE is the Box and the ORANGE is my SD Card.
Now this is the Path we need to get to for the relevant file we need to save on our SD Card.
So we click on Device First.
Then it is Android.
com.semperpax.spmc For SPMC org.xbmc.kodi for Kodi And org.xbmc.xbmc for XBMC,
Then once your in the relevant folder it is File
And with in that folder there will be another called SPMC/KODI or XMBC.
Click it and there you will find the UserData Folder.
As you can see the path below.
And the file you need to save is the guisettings.xml.
Now if we Long press that file we will get the option to copy it.
Hit they Copy tab and head right back to the beginning where you have Device and SD Card. And Click on your SD Card.
You will have the Option to paste on the bottom of the screen.
Click Paste and your saved file will be on your SD Card.
So thats how to save the file for your Kodi/SPMC/XBMC Changes.
If you have made any changes to your Favorites then it is the favourites.xml and it is the same principle as above.
So what is next,Well now you have your file safe then you can up date your box to your hearts content.
Once you have up dated and you want you Kodi back to how is was all we have to do is replace the guisettings.xml.
So basically its the reverse of what we have just done ABOVE.
So this time we want to copy the saved file from the SD Card.
Head over to our UserData folder on our System/Box And paste our File
Once we do we will get this Pop up on the screen.
YES we want to Overwrite the existing file.
Once you click Overwrite you should see Pasted Successfully.
That is it JOB done.
Your Kodi/SPMC/XBMC should now be as it was before you updated.
Hope this How to save your Kodi Screen Set up guide will help someone in saving there changes so you do not have to go through the same procedure time after time.
Again a Massive Thanks to CLUMMO.
Till next time, Be Good.
