How to setup the official Kodi remote app

Afternoon all, this blog looks at How to setup the official Kodi remote app for your device so you can control your kodi device from your IOS device. Follow this very simple guide from Pitch and you will be up and running in no time.

In my very first blog on BestForKodi I talked about the raspberry pi in that post I talked briefly about the iOS remote app for Kodi.

A big Thank You to all of you that took the time to read my first blog.

Today I’ll go into a bit more detail.

Firstly we need to head over to system settings, web server and ensure allow remote control via http is selected.

Then we need to head over to the App Store and download the app.

It’ll then look something like this

We then need to choose the index button in the top left corner to open up the side menu

As you can see all the options are currently greyed out as we don’t have any available connections, so our only option is the no connection button at the top this’ll take us to add sources.

You should now have a screen that looks similar to this; yours will look slightly different as I already have my connections set up

We want to choose add host in the bottom left corner

Press the Find Kodi button and it’ll search your wifi network for available Kodi setups

If like me you have more than one setup you’ll want to make sure you change the description to make it easier to know which setup you’re controlling then hit save. Go back and you’ll know notice that those previously greyed out options are available to use.

Music > Live TV are quick keys that help to get your content playing that little bit quicker. Personally I don’t use these I head straight for remote control.

Again you’ll notice that there are quick keys along the bottom for music, photos etc

Along the top we have the playback buttons along with buttons for subtitles and audio streams

Below these we have the navigation buttons to make our way through Kodi, A home button and an info button in the top corners. In the bottom corners we have a simple back button and a button that brings up the context menu. Useful to bring up add on settings etc.

In the top right corner you may notice a button that looks like two cogs hitting that will bring up some additional features

The most useful of all the features here is the keyboard, perfect for when you’re trying to add repository’s and add ons etc.

Of course there are other remote apps available, but being the official Kodi remote it is well thought out, easy to use and has some intuitive features and plays nicely with Kodi.

Android mobile users also have an official remote app that can be found in the Google play store, it’s called Kore. (which we have blogged before on BFK and can be read Here)
