Hi guys. As promised here is a look at the Phenomenal skin and a tutorial to set it up. It is a very customizable skin with a lot of different ways to set it up. A great thing about it is that if you set your menu up horizontally you can change it with one click to vertical or to horizontal eminence like icons. Here is what the final setup might look like:
One click into up into widget gets you this.
Click widget back down and its back to main screen:
One clicks up to widget:
Let’s get started shall we?
Phenomenal is available in the official Kodi Repository so go to system, settings, appearance, skin, get more and click Phenomenal.
You should receive a prompt to save changes click yes.
If you miss the prompt no big deal just goes to system, settings, appearance and skin then select Phenomenal. Now go to system, settings, appearance then settings
Then click General which will allow you to set up a custom splash screen.
A splash screen is a picture or short video that starts as soon as you open Kodi and disappears as soon as the main screen comes on.
In my case I used one from my Apocalyptic build. Just toggle on Use custom splash and point it to where you have the picture you want.
Let’s scroll down so we can decide what layout and colours we want. Go to Design.
We’ll start at the top select theme colour.
Once you pick a colour select save. Now let’s pick a Mouse pointer colour. Make sure it contrasts with the theme colour you chose otherwise you won’t be able to see it.
Now the top bar can be toggled on or off. I prefer off. Toggle Show only Date and Time Off or on .
Choose colour of rss feed or turn it off. Show Weather Icon or not. Etc.…
Now we can choose layout.
Horizontal Menu or use tiles like Eminence but unfortunately the tiles are only available for Horizontal not vertical.
If you toggle Horizontal Menu off, you get the vertical menu. Makes sense right?
Now you can choose Background colours for Menu and widgets. Go nuts. I won’t judge!! Go Hot pink menu with barney purple sub-menu. See if I care!
I always make sure Always show widgets is off because otherwise the widgets take the whole screen and your backgrounds aren’t seen.
So now we get to set up our Menu’s. You need to decide which add-ons you use the most. It’s O.K. I’ll wait … Ok done?
Go to Home Window.
Click Customize Home Screen. Click Choose Shortcut.
Click Video Add-ons.
Then click the add-on you want. In this case Hulu Movie TV.
Select Create menu item to here.
This will make the menu add-on clickable, this way when we click on the name of the add-on on the menu it will open into the add-on.
Now you can go to choose item name. If you like the add-on name, you can leave it. Now we choose a background.
Select Choose Item Background.
You can choose a single image or a bunch of images in the same file/folder or you can use the widget as background. I choose single image. Now choose where you have your pictures.
Choose Item Icon (I leave mine the same).
Now we choose the Widget. I use the widget for the complete add-on that way I can access everything without going into the add-on.
Select Video Add-on.
Select the add-on you created the menu with. My case it’s Hulu Movie TV.
Then use as widget. Now we configure the rest. Just repeat the same steps.
